UFC 291 Main Card Fight Picks
Michael Chiesa VS Kevin Holland
Winner: Kevin Holland
Kevin Holland wins this fight for no other reason besides that we like him a lot, that’s it. Nothing against Chiesa, we just like Holland more. Plus, he’s batman; Holland stopped a car thief, choked out a gunman, and pulled a driver out of an overturned 18-wheeler. He’s my pick.
Tony Ferguson VS Bobby Green
Winner: Bobby Green
Tony is one of my favorite fighters, but Bobby Green is going to win this fight. Green will win not because he is better, but because Ferguson is worse. He’s 39 years old, 0-5 in his last 5 fights, and his last fight with Michael Chandler was a brutal loss. He took a *PED reinforced front kick to the head that instantly knocked him out. For those reasons, he’s going 0-6 and Green will be victorious.
*We have no evidence that Michael Chandler has ever used PEDs.
Wonder Boy VS Michel Pereira has been Cancelled due to Pereira weighing in 3 pounds overweight. If the fight was to continue, the predicted winner would have been Wonder Boy.
Jan Blachowicz vs Alex Pereira
Winner: Jan Blachowicz
Alex Pereira is a massive man, and every one is wondering how he made weight at 185. However, the pick is Jan. He is a more well rounded MMA fighter and is used to facing high level competition. Pereira, on the other hand, hasn’t fought anyone talented besides Israel Adesanya and is not used to the weight class. If Pereira had come into MMA sooner, I would pick him to win. At this time, Jan is the winner.
Dustin Poirier Vs Justin Gaethje
Winner: Justin Gaethje
Gaethje is the predicted winner because he has grown as a fighter, and the elevation will heavily favor him. He is known for this devastating power shots, and he throws them like there’s no tomorrow. Since training with Trevor Wittman, Gaethje is more controlled, smart, and mature with his power. He knows when to bring the heat and when to stay cool. In addition to his maturity, the elevation will play a role in the fight. UFC 291 takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah where the elevation is 4200 ft above sea level. Gaethje trains in Denver where the elevation is 5200 ft above sea level, where Olympians train. Based off my experience of running in a city where the elevation was near 2000 ft above sea level, I suspect Poirier will be gassed and short of breath early.
The new BMF will be Justin Gaethje!
